Surprising gem! Mostly due to the super friendly staff. Nice common areas and good atmosphere here. Let me store things and shower after my volcano boarding tour which was awesome. Only con - in the 6 bed dorm the middle bunk felt super unsteady and I had to add the ladder myself - it also didn’t really have much for side rails so I really felt like I had to sleep carefully lol. Dorm was cool though with ac and individual fans.

Lovely hostel with a beautiful garden/common area. Lots of places to relax. The welcome drink for socializing was a super nice idea too. My dorm was so cute and didn’t have bunks, only single beds with individual fans which was very welcome. Some of the tours weren’t possible while I was there due to Semana Santa but I heard they were a lot of fun! Thanks for a great stay

Really liked this place! Loved the rooftop with the pool. Fun social activities. A person broke into a dorm and stole peoples possessions while I was there - the owner took it seriously and was extremely responsive and had metal security bars installed on the windows that very same day (which I thought was really impressive) - lots of cameras everywhere for security as well. Nice hammocks and garden. Would happily stay here again.

Didn’t have the best experience. Paid for my volcano tour early, got food poisoning and couldn’t go. Didn’t get a full refund because “since I paid yesterday, that receipt was closed yesterday” (so I think if I hadn’t paid early I would have gotten the full refund?). Front desk disorganized - volunteers came in saying “pack your bags you need to get out” to myself and another who were in the middle of our reso. Despite clearing this up, staff packed up/moved the other guys stuff while he was out
We are truly sorry to hear about the difficulties you experienced during your stay, especially regarding the volcano tour and the service at our front desk. Your comfort and satisfaction are our top priorities, and it's clear we missed the mark this time. Regarding the volcano tour, we regret the misunderstanding about the refund policy. We are reviewing our procedures to ensure clearer communication and more flexibility in such situations. The disorganization and distress caused by our staff and volunteers are unacceptable. We are taking immediate action to improve our training and ensure our guests' experiences are nothing but positive. The incident involving the mishandling of personal belongings is being investigated thoroughly. We value your feedback as it helps us improve. We're committed to making things right and would love another chance to provide you with the high-quality experience you deserve. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and disappointment. Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention.

Doesn’t look like the pictures! Overall, it appears very much in construction and is rough around the edges. The dorms are small and no where to put your stuff inside the rooms, but there are lockers outside and the AC was cold! Wasn’t much of an atmosphere when I was there. Weird smell constantly in upstairs common areas (sort of like pee?). It wouldn’t be my first choice to stay here again, but it’s solid and the location is perfect!

Had a really nice stay! The volunteers are all genuinely lovely. Loved the morning yoga. Hostel was well located to the river and semuc. Family dinners and lunches made for a nice social atmosphere. While I was there, the road was being worked out so there was a 10-15 min walk on dirt path with baggage to the hotel (which was super hot but not unreasonable). They keep chocobananos in the freezer for purchase :)))

Lovely hostel! Very clean and secure, the bunks were very private and comfortable. So clean all the time and the staff was very accommodating with early breakfast if you had a shuttle or hike. The only con is the vibe felt more like a cool coffee shop that happened to have beds, and as such it wasnt very social. Nice quiet place to do your own thing though!

Nice place to stay in Santa Cruz! Loved the family dinners by candlelight. Lots of options in house for yoga/fitness, activities, renting paddle boards. Not a tonne of bathrooms/showers for the size of the property and the facilities on the older side of things but a solid place to stay overall!

Super friendly and social hostel! Party vibe. I was a bit sick and not wanting to party - and I still found this hostel lovely for the social atmosphere and staff. Quiet and easy to sleep past 10. Stayed in a private - such a great space - shower was hot, everything was perfect - overall wouldn’t change a thing.

Nice place to stay if you need to be close to the airport for a night! Didn’t get to use the shuttle because I arrived too late but the front desk was very accommodating for my late check in. It was very loud with other guests late into the night (not the hostels fault) but I did have a dorm room to myself which was a nice treat! Good breakfast.

Perfect airport hostel. Very close by. Capsule style beds. The staff were very nice and helpful and the vibe was good for a transit hostel. The room could be noises at times being on the road and with people coming and going for their flights but I overall thought it was a great stay

Lots of amenities (movie room, restaurant and bar, communal computer, pool etc) and massive bed - just booked a regular 6 bed dorm and bed was giant, and comfortable. Laundry quick and cheap in hostel. Lots of party type events - pool party when I was there. Couldn’t hear the music/noise in the dorm room tho which was great.

Really nice place - I actually only stayed here one night on the way to the airport (arrived late and left early) but this place was exactly what I needed. Cool, comfortable, quiet and nicely appointment. I would have liked to stay for longer. Loved the outdoor shower. The staff immediately made me feel comfortable from my long travel - welcome drink immediately on check in and they offer room service

Beautiful hostel! Extra large and comfy beds. Free massages and yoga were amazing, and location is great - not on the Main Street but tonnes of great food and coffee places near by as well as monkey forest right next door. The communal areas weren’t my fav - just as the pool had no shade at all near it (so great if you want to sun lounge but not if your sunburnt lol). There is an upstairs table/chairs area that’s covered though

Beautiful hostel a quick walk to the beach! Super dark bed shades and comfy bed. Staff were friendly. Wasn’t much of an atmosphere when I was there - the pool was very lovely though and they arranged an airport transfer for me at a good price! Only con - all bathrooms are inside room with no communal bathroom - a couple of people got pretty bad Bali belly during my stay and we’re up vomiting all night in the room - felt awful for them not to have a more private place!

Wow - this place is perfect. I had spent my first night in Ella at a hostel in town because I wanted both experiences, and I really wish I had spent both nights here. Peaceful, beautiful, lovely and helpful family. I was leaving early and they got breakfast ready for me a full hour earlier than the usual time and helped make sure I got the bus. The dorm, although it has many beds, is quiet and has good curtain and mosquito net for blocking light. I hope to be back soon!! Definitely stay here

This was a very nice option for staying close to the airport. When I arrived the owner recommended that there was more of a social atmosphere at the beach location but I still found the airport location to be peaceful with some people to chat with and a nice dog :)

What an epic hostel. Free food, nice dorms and the greatest hostel dog Buddy of all time. The owners are super cool and around to hang out and offer lots of suggestions on the area. Located right near a lake and the hostel has fishing rods and other things you can use. The social atmosphere was perfect, from bonfire to games night. Definitely worth the stay, I hope to be back soon

Such an epic hostel. It’s pretty new and still growing, but the vibe is excellent, the staff are excellent and the building itself is beautiful and I’m excited to see what they do with it! Location is near the backwaters (a bonus!), and an easy walk to shops/atms and things. Lots of tours and things as options - but more importantly family dinners, uno games, paint night, ping pong etc. Definitely stay here!
Thank you so much for staying with us and for the wonderful review. You were amazing!! We had a great time doing the art workshop and the recycling workshop with you. We have saved the art that you have painted in one of our rooms. More importantly, we still have another ping pong game left. Have a wonderful journey ahead and see you in our hostel in Goa! Ashwin.

Lovely little hostel. When I was there not much of a social atmosphere but they had workshops and things going on just not on the dates I was staying. Good location great staff. I would stay again.
Greetings from Team Zostel. Thank you, Lauren, for providing positive feedback. Zostel always tries to provide optimum and unparallel experience to all travelers. We are really happy that you liked the place and the people around. Activities are also getting organized on a daily basis now. We hope to see you again sooner. Such a great hostel (and city!) - extended our stay by two nights. Staff has been very cool and helpful organizing lots of great events, very good location. Prices are great - except the last night we’ve moved to a private room and that price was a bit steep (moreso than I had previously seen on the page for private room) but otherwise no complaints. Very grateful for the help of the staff in making our time in Jaipur so excellent :)

The hostel building itself was perfectly ok - with a great location. Not much of a social atmosphere at the time I was there with other travellers. However the staff were really amazing! Went above and beyond to help us book stuff. The big walking tour was cancelled when we were there due to low attendance but they took the time to make us a hand drawn map and explain everywhere we should check out, how much it should cost etc. A really awesome group of guys working in this hostel.

A perfectly nice hostel! Gets the job done for sure. Not much of a social atmosphere the night I stayed. Was expensive for a hostel but you’re paying for the location. Safe and clean and felt very secure. The staff were kind.

An absolute oasis. Very chilled, great pool, great space, and most importantly, great people. Absolute family atmosphere. Right on Zicatela and not a far walk from stores, atm etc. The activities with the sister hostels are also amazing and I would highly recommend them, along with surf lessons with Angelo and temezcal. This is the best place to stay in Puerto near the beach. Thanks for having me!

This is one of the best hostels I’ve ever had the pleasure to stay at. It is a family. Clean, safe, a great location, plus great activities and tours going out from the hostel. I would also highly recommend surf lessons with Angelo and the temezcal. What else can I say, it’s one of the most special places I know. Thanks for having me :)

A great hostel made excellent by a passionate, creative staff team. I would highly recommend surf lessons with Angelo, being apart of the temezcal, and all other activities the hostel offers. There is a true family atmosphere. A huge thanks for having me, and I can’t wait to be back soon. Sending love from Tofino!

A great hostel! The staff were so helpful and kind, the walking tour was excellent, breakfast was good, room was clean, and everything else you could hope for. The rooftop terrace was a huge plus, and it was social without being over the top. The only thing I would change is AC in the rooms (they were hot!) but my room did have a fan which did the trick. Would be happy to stay again!

A really great place :) so relaxed, a great place to rest and regroup. Family style meals, sunny terrace, morning yoga/meditation, and surf lessons were all amazing :) I wish I could have stayed longer - nearly everyone I met had extended their stay because they loved it so much as well. I will definitely be back.
Thank you! So great that you enjoyed so many of our activities. And, we love that our place attracts so many cool people that don't want to leave! Our place is your place :) can't wait to have you back!

The good: really helpful staff, great breakfast, good location The bad: we booked in advanced and arrived to check in at 2am. We’re told it was full, despite having a reservation. He called a few other riads and they were all full to. Being it 2am, he let us sleep in the staff room, and moved us to a private room in then AM (we had booked dorm) didn’t charge for 1 night. We heard it happen to other people too and they were turned away...so the booking seems really disorganized

When I arrived at 2am I was in a room with a bunch of ‘party guys’ who had been eating and leaving dirty laundry in my bed, and were loud etc in my room. In the morning I let the staff know and they had no problems switching my room which I was very grateful for :) cute, clean, safe and a great location, and the staff make the hostel excellent. Would stay again for sure.

Large, large bunks (such a highlight). Great value for how cheap it is - quiet, clean, a nice place to go if you know what you'd like to do already in Kyoto. In my experience it was not very social. It is also closed for cleaning for a big chunk of the day - the plus side of that is that its really clean haha. It suited my needs just fine though, and I would stay here again.

Cute, clean, very kind and informative staff. They give you a cheaper rate on one of the nearby onsen which is a plus! Breakfast is affordable and very good! The room (stayed in a private room) was basic Japanese style with a heater - we were really comfortable and happy with how big the room was. Yamanouchi is a great place to visit!!! Small but charming, we could have spent a lot more time here than the 2 nights we stayed.

This is the best hostel I have ever had the pleasure of staying at - in both Japan and elsewhere in the world. The staff was incredible and so kind - a particular shoutout to Yuki for going above and beyond to make our stay fantastic. We ended up extending our stay by 2 night and I will definitely stay here again when in the Tokyo area. Capsule style room allowed for great privacy - two lovely common areas. Super clean. Lots of social events, something happening every day. Highly recommend!

The location of this hostel is very good and the staff were very nice - they upgraded us to a smaller dorm than what we had booked which we really appreciated. The big negative for me, was no signage for the hostel anywhere so was hard to find and was called something different (Hong Kong hostel) when we did find it. There were signs all over the ground floor/elevator of the building saying it was an illegal hostel and anyone staying at the hostel was trespassing - felt very sketchy about that.

I did not actually get to stay at this hostel - my travel plans forced me away from arriving for the night I had booked. The staff were sympathetic to my cancelation but I was still charged the night as per their cancellation policy (totally understandable). My friend stayed there overnight however and had nothing but good things to say, particularly about the location.

A very nice place to stay. Felt very secure, not too long a walk (maybe half hour walking or a cheap taxi) to 7 mile beach. Also close to the cliffs for jumping. Great ambiance, could fall asleep to the sounds of chickens and crickets and reggae from neighbouring houses. The staff was excellent, gave me great directions via route taxi to treasure beach. I also really appreciate Sue for organizing me a shuttle from the airport at the very very last minute notice I gave her! Will be back for sure
Many thanks for taking the time to write your excellent review and so glad you enjoyed your stay at the Judy House so much. We constantly strive to help guests have the best stay and a wonderful experience in Negril/Jamaica. Always glad to assist guests with shuttles, transport and tours. Loking forward to your return.
