Welcome to the “THE ESPY “Hostel.
Our Budget friendly Hostel is perfectly located in the heart of Cairns Esplanade. Within only a few steps you can be at some of Cairns City’s favourite places including the Lagoon pool, waterfront, marina, cafes, bars and much more.
“THE ESPY “Hostel is well known for its Quiet, chilled, and relaxed vibe with many of our guests labeling it a home away from home.
We offer excellent weekly long-term rates for working backpackers who wish to be able to walk to work and have a quiet homely place to rest at the end of the day.
While we do encourage a social beverage by the pool on a hot summer day, we also have a Strict NO noise and NO alcohol policy after 10pm. So, for those who love a good party into the night will have to head out and enjoy all the bustling bars and night clubs Cairns have to offer and remember to sneak back home quietly😉
We not only offer dorm stays but have newly renovated private rooms available at great affordable prices. Please note our dorm stays are for under 35’s only but don’t let that deter you, we have all ages join us here and have many private rooms available for us to welcome you too.
Come hang by the pool, cook a meal amongst friends in our fully equipped kitchen, chill out in our lounge area and join us for our occasional pop-up social events.
Please note we are a fully SELF check in hostel, but our friendly staff are always happy to help and are only a phone call away.

Really good location right next to the lagoon and bars but honestly pricey for what you get. We booked a private rooms with private washroom and our room wasn’t really clean. I was especially disappointed with the toilet as the seat didn’t look clean and there was rubbish on the ground. We also found an old q tip in the shower. Otherwise really nice atmosphere and pool. Staff was nice. Would still recommend to stay here.

This place could have been great apart from the cleanliness. We checked in and had cockroaches in our bedroom and the bathroom. The ‘curtain’ did absolutely nothing to give us privacy, so we had to tape it up. The bathroom wasn’t very clean, and the towels had marks on them too.
The room itself was nice but not nice enough with how dirty it was.
The staff were lovely and the kitchen was good including location.
Wouldn’t stay again.
