we booked this hostel because of the “24 hours open front desk” however, after going out with a few friends who lives in Qingdao, we got scolded by the owner for coming home later than midnight. The next day, the owners told us to be home before midnight as they would lock the gates. Turns out there’s a midnight curfew, which no one informed us about. The owners was obvious about not being very fond of us for accidentally breaking the curfew and it didn’t make the stay very pleasant.

I stayed in a private room w/private bathroom at Wheat hostel and it was great! Room was very clean and comfortable. Hostel is very cute and well decorated, although I was upset to see the birds in small cages (unfortunately this can be common in China).
The location couldn't be better! It's right in the old town next door to a street food area and is within 15 to the Qingdao train station (Qingdao Station, NOT Qingdao North). Would have liked staff to explain the area more/activities to do.

Location is it. And the neat decor on the inside and the nice vibe to the place.
But the shower water takes forever to get warm, there aren’t enough toilets to accommodate a full hostel, and it’s VERY POORLY lit at night. I tripped and fell and hurt my knee on the way back from brushing my teeth.
All in all, it’s ok here.
