Welcome to The Yard - your neighbourly hostel where everyone is a friend.
The Yard is a boutique hostel in the heart of Helsinki and Best Hostel in Finland years 2018, 2019 and 2020. We are your home away from home, a place were you will always feel welcome and valued. Our core goal is to make everyone walk through our doors fall in love with Helsinki by helping them get the best possible experience of our Nordic Capital. You will feel right at home in our relaxed and cool ambience.
We are a hostel with both private rooms and dorms. Most of our dorm beds have light blocking privacy curtains. Our large lounge is great for hanging out with your friends or making new ones. Plus free Wi-Fi for all and lots of real plants to keep the air fresh. Our kitchen is well equipped for you to prepare your own meals.
So come and enjoy our hospitality. We are located just a five minute walk from Helsinki Central Railway Station, on a street that is bubbling with bars, restaurants, shops and sights. Luckily our strong stone building circa 1907 keeps the noise outside and you can chill in a relaxed ambience in-between exploring the city. Famous department store Stockmann and shopping center Forum are just next door.

The location is perfect and the hostel has nice-ish facilities, but it lacks an atmosphere and can definitely not be called a social hostel. Moreover, I had a bad experience because three guys in my room were really drunk and loud, and even worse: one of them brought an outside guest back to the dorm and started having loud sex with her and got aggressive towards us. Reception closed early and no staff was at the hostel during the night, so we had no one to contact about this problem.

Beautiful and super-comfortable dorms (I slept like a baby). Really friendly staff who helps you with tips on how to make the most of your stay.

pretty great place in the heart of Helsinki. walking distance to everything. pretty safe place too. Not much amenities there but a good place to sleep with clean showers and bathrooms in the middle of town. Would stay here again
