Our off-grid, family-run, Christian hostel Pilgrim Hill is nestled in the hills above the Huon Valley of Tasmania, Australia ? the only 100% off-grid hostel in Tasmania. We warmly welcome travellers from any background.

We're 35 minutes from Hobart and 15 minutes from Huonville, surrounded by natural forests and native wildlife, and located near major orchards for working holiday guests.

Pilgrim Hill is 100% off-grid. There are certain things we do a little differently at Pilgrim Hill, but we trust you'll find your stay very comfortable. For example, we collect our own rainwater for showers. You'll get a shower card with a free 5-minute shower per day, which you can save up if you like, or buy extra shower time. We also collect our energy from solar panels, so we don't offer a microwave or a toaster (which are not energy efficient). But you'll find two power-points for your smart devices by your bed, unlimited free wi-fi, and an outdoor patio kitchen with all the equipment you need (even a rice cooker) to make great food in a beautiful setting.

At Pilgrim Hill, we share dinner together three times a week. Then we have a discussion from a Christian point of view. You're welcome to join us for good food and thoughtful discussions, whatever your background. You don't have to be a Christian to join in.

Pilgrim Hill is a family-run hostel, open to travellers of all ages. We ask you to keep your conduct family-friendly. We aim to be a safe and welcoming place where you can make friends with great people from all over the world.

Are you working a local farm job? Our free farm shuttle operates morning and evening to local farms within 15km.

The Pilgrim Hill managers, Peirce + Christina Baehr, live on-site and are happy to serve you. We are best available from 9am-11am and 2pm-9pm, Sun-Fri. We are generally unavailable Saturdays and 11-2pm Sun-Fri.
