Welcome to the ancient city of Durres!
Durres is a friendly seaside city in the central part of Albania. Its the second biggest city of Albania, after the capital Tirana.
Durres has a lot to offer, from beach, sun, great seafood to the roman amphitheater; which was only discovered in the 1960s. The city has a Mediterranean feel, and you can enjoy this lifestyle by having a coffee or drink in one of the many bars.
We offer free breakfast and wifi. There is also free parking next to the hostel.
The hostel has a nice shady garden where you can relax and lie in the sun. We have 8 rooms, of which 2 rooms are private and have its own bathroom. The other rooms are dorms, varying in size between 4 and 8 beds. There are 2 shared bathrooms with showers and toilets, which are completely RENEWED in January 2018!
Durres is a great place to start some daytrips. As it is centrally located and the major transportation lines run passed the city. You can make daytrips to Tirana, Divjak National Park for birdwatching, Kruja Catsle and many nice beaches like Bishti i Palles or Capi Rodonit. Car rental is available in town, we can arrange this for you.

Cancellation policy: 24h before arrival. In case of a late cancellation or No Show, you will be charged the first night of your stay.

The room was very dirty. The table had not been wiped for a long time and the locker rooms were so dirty that we did not want to put our backpacks there.
The staff in the reception was kind, but they did not know much about the city and they had no recommendations about day trips. They also gave us a wrong time table for the buses. The main reason for us to stay in the hostel was their flyers about activities and day trips, but when we asked for this upon arrival, nothing was on schedule.

BED BUGS! they did treat two of the rooms for bed bugs while i was there but they moved a guy who woke up with bites from one of the bed bug rooms into the room i was staying in and did not treat the new room for bugs despite it being easy for the bugs to move into the new room on his bags. i strongly suspect they were already there. really the whole hostel would need to be temporarily closed and treated for bed bugs if they want to fix the issue. the staff seemed nice at first but were dismissive of the bed bug issue and initially attempted to hide it from guests, saying that the guy moved bc there was going to be an early morning check in in his dorm. they also tried to tell me i was the one of the only people with bites in the last two weeks so it must not be much of an issue, however there was another guy with bites (the one who moved into the room), and bed bugs only feed every 3-7 days so it makes sense that only a few people would have bed bug bites since there were not many people staying at the hostel to begin with.

Weak security: no keys or codes, doors always open. If you lock your stuff under the bed, another person can access it from their locker. Poor bathroom with no shower heads. No railings on the upper beds. Breakfast was good though.
